Electric ATV Safari to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is both iconic and a popular site to visit, and doing so on our fully electric ATVs makes for an even more exciting experience! Join us for a trip full of impressions and a silent drive out of Longyearbyen, along Adventfjorden, up towards the seed vault and a beautiful panoramic view next to Mine 3. Our guide will pick you up from your accommodation and drive you to our activity centre for a pre-trip briefing and kit you out with the equipment you’ll need before jumping onto the ATVs. This is a trip suited for most people, and particularly so if you’ve got the Svalbard Global Seed Vault on your list of places to see in Svalbard, in addition to experiencing the town's historical surroundings. After an introduction to the ATVs with our guide it’s time to fire up our engines in complete silence before driving a short distance over to the famous polar bear warning sign in Adventdalen to both get used to the ATVs and to take some photos next to the sign. Afterwards we’ll head westwards through town and along the fjord before reaching the historic landmark Titankrana, an old coal loading crane in Longyearbyen’s old coal shipping port. After a stop there we’ll start our ascent to roughly 150m above sea level to the seed vault where we’ll park and head over to the seed vault for a longer break to take photos and learn more about this fascinating site which plays a crucial role internationally. But we’re not done just yet, and after the seed vault we’ll head even further up the mountain to the former coal mine simply named Mine 3 which was taken out of operation in 1996. Here we’ll stop to learn more about the mine from our guide while taking in the panoramic view of both the fjord and mountains around Longyearbyen. This is our turnaround point from which we’ll head back to our activity centre for a debrief before our guide drives you back to your accommodation. Apart from the stops throughout the trip, this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy Longyearbyen’s surroundings in a more unrestricted way compared to sitting in a car. Without the hum of an engine in the background you’re able to take in the experience with a surprising peace and quiet despite driving on roads throughout the trip.
