Join the Fossil Quest at the Glacier
Leave the ordinary behind – and embark on a journey deep into Svalbard’s geological past.
Hidden within the rugged moraine of Longyearbreen lies a secret treasure: 60-million-year-old plant fossils waiting to be discovered. Now, you are invited to join us on this unique expedition.
We begin our journey from historic Sverdrupbyen, leaving the modern world behind to explore the untouched beauty of the Arctic wilderness. This is an educational, expert-led expedition where the focus is on tranquility and curiosity. We will scour the glacial landscape for perfectly preserved leaf imprints in stone—tangible evidence of a time when the Arctic was a lush, tropical paradise. Along the way, you will also gain a unique insight into Longyearbyen's mining history, with a fantastic view of the old mining structures. It is a moderate hike in the moraine and if time allows also on the glacier.
After our exploration, we will gather for a warm drink to share our experiences and examine our finds. You are, of course, welcome to take your own fossils home as a memory for life.
How many treasures can you fit in your backpack? We also offer customized itineraries and private tours.
