Most people only see the Arctic from the outside. On this hike, you’re stepping right into it. We'll hike up a snowy glacier above Longyearbyen and descend into a frozen meltwater channel. Picture glowing blue walls, sparkling icicles, total silence, and an adventure you’ll be talking about long after you fly home.

The Experience

Earn the view: We start by trekking out of town and straight into raw, silent Arctic wilderness.
A living crystal palace: This isn't a tourist trap. Every winter, meltwater carves a completely new, deeply blue ice cave. No two seasons are the same.
The Arctic brew: Deep inside the quiet belly of the glacier, we’ll take a break for a hot drink and snacks.

Quick Facts

Duration: Up to 5 hours (door-to-door).
Difficulty: Moderate. Expect a steady uphill climb on snow (~350m ascent). If you regularly hike or can climb a few flights of stairs without stopping, you’ll do great!
Group Size: Small and personal.
Language: Guided in English (private tours might be ordered in other languages).
Minimum Age: 10 years (must be accompanied by an adult).

What to Wear & Bring

Svalbard winters are cold, and the cave stays around freezing.

Layer up: Wool or synthetic base layers (no cotton!), a warm fleece/down mid-layer, and wind/waterproof outer shells.
Footwear: Sturdy winter hiking boots with ankle support (sneakers and fashion boots won't cut it).
Accessories: Thick wool socks, a warm hat, a scarf/gaiter, and warm mittens.
In your backpack (20-30L): Spare layers, a water bottle (a thermos of hot tea is a pro move!), and your camera. Keep batteries close to your body so the cold doesn't drain them!

For everyone's safety, you must be able to understand English well enough to follow the guide's instructions. Nature is in charge here, so routes may change based on weather. To keep you safe, guides reserve the right to decline participation of anyone who arrives without proper winter clothing - with no refund.
