Sightseeing in Billefjord

SIGHTSEEING IN BILLEFJORDEN Skansbukta, Nordenskiöld glacier and the ghost town Pyramiden MAGESTIC BILLEFJORD Join us on M/V Strønstad on a sailing from Longyearbyen to Billefjord. Learn more about the history of the famous Swedish house, before we visit one of the treasures of Spitsbergen; Skansbukta. If you don´t want to sit in the salon on the crossing of Isfjord, we have a sauna and a jacuzzi on the boat (remember to bring bathing suit and towel). Can you think of anything more magical than enjoying the beautiful Svalbard nature in a jacuzzi on deck? In Pyramiden we will have a 2 hour guided trip, where we can see some of the old buildings. The little arctic town was Sovjets communistic display window towards the west, and today the whole town is a big museum, where we can have a look at how they lived in this little village. Please be aware that in this town we need polar bear protection, so it is not possible to wander on your own. The main point of interest on our trip is the Nordenskiöld glacier, a huge and massiv glacier that breaks against the fjord. Here we will hopefully see some of the wildlife living up north, and if we are really lucky, the king of the arctic might stop by; the polar bear. The guide onboard will tell you all about Svalbard's history, glaciers, wildlife and whatever else you are wondering about.
